Do I press seersucker?

I'm getting ready to make a seersucker dress for my granddaughter, and I have a question. Do I press the seams or just let them be a bit puffy? From my experience with seersucker in the past, if you press it, the little depressions in the material flatten out.

Press JUST THE SEAMS over a sleeve roll, and then puff some steam at them to restore all the lovely crinkles! :D

Thank you, Kate. I can do that.

Dear Dianne,

If you press plisse, the puffing will flatten out; if the fabric is true seersucker, it won't. Seersucker uses a thread to pucker the fabric that will shrink when the fabric is being processed.

Isn't seersucker a slack warp weave?

Dear Kay,

That's exactly what it is. I thought my way of describing it would be easier for Dianne to understand.
