Slightly OT- Fur coat?

Hi, I'm a long turn lurker, and I'm currently trying to place a name (or other ID) to this great vintage coat I've found at the thrift store ($2.00, can you believe it??).

The only ID I can find on it is "Mar-Del by Rice, made in the USA" and a drycleaning tag. It's a chocolatey sort of colour.

I think the main body might be fake fur, because of the way it's been cut. It's sort of like a textured velvet. It's a gorgeous coat, so I'd really like to know more about it. Can anyone help? TIA, Tahirih

could be kid angora (or a fake copy of). is it kind of curly/wavy? i have, around here somewhere, a mouton coat that my mom got when she was in nursing school in the 40s... it looks like very deep pile chocolate velvet. lee
