Was:Can't sew and need help

Dec 07, 2005 2 Replies

DH has large hands. He sewed all his own Scout patches on as a lad. Son James (now 11) is quite good with a machine, but a reluctant hand sewist. I want to get him to a reasonable standard before he gives up! DH's father made his own trousers for many years: he's a large-handed engineer. Large hands are no bar to sewing. Fine motor control is more important than size.

I thank all for your replies and insight. I will retire this machine and either find a full grown machine for a good price or sew by hand. (If you ever saw me you would understand my hesitance at trying any sewing.....large hands and small needles don't always work well) .. The patches for the pocket will need to be hand sewn....I just now realize this.

Again...Thank all for the responses..
