Acutal update Marissa

Message: Another upswing day... As I have said before, she likes it much better when the lights in her room are off. This morning when I turned them off and her eyes popped open, they stayed open and she was looking around the room. I ran up to her and started talking to her, telling her that Mom, Dad and her uncle were there. I told her to blink if she knew who was there and what I was saying.. She did it immediately!!! I almost ran out and hugged all the Dr.'s and nurses!!!! That wasn't just a baby step, that was a Lexi run!!! Also, her father said that he saw her follow me with her eyes when I walked from the bed to get her a cold cloth.

She won't be that alert now for a day or so as she has some extensive surgery tomorrow. They are working on every part of her body. They are shortening and closing the amputation site on her left leg, placing the plates in her left knee. Cleaning and preparing the right leg wound for skin grafting and putting a different support circle in. They will be putting the plates and screws in her right upper arm. They are trading the ventilator for a trachiostomy and placing a PEG in her stomach (feeding her direct rather than through her nose). She is also having another CT scan of her brain tonight. So.. she is going to be out of it again for another day or two.. I can handle that because today I got the first thing that I needed and that was to have my baby look me in the eye and acknowledge me there.. Damn she looks beautiful!!! Keep those prayers coming, they are working and I love you all sooooo much for them..
