Another "lost Lamb"

Not really lost, just silent. I've been having some minor health setbacks, but then the doctors warned me it would probably take up to a year to recover fully from last year's pneumonia, so I'm not too worried, more frustrated. Also having some computer problems - I need a geek!!! Unfortunately, it is very hard to find anyone to do anything at present, as the population is so far down, and everyone has more to do than is feasible. However, I still have an intact home to live in, which is more lucky than 75% of the population; a good friend of mine whose home was completely underwater has FINALLY received her FEMA trailer (after almost eight months of bunking in with another friend) and hopes to move into it this weekend.

Sorry, got sidetracked there. Anyway, most of the time I can read the messages, either through Mozilla and Teranews or through Google, it's just I cannot often post. I've been sending out the good vibes to all, and been frustrated not to express them. Oh well, there are those in much worse circumstances.

Thinking of you on Vancouver Island

Good to see you back and able to post again. I hope you can manage to get the kinks worked out with your computer. Please do take care with your relapses from the pnuemonia, that can sure drain you. Thankfully I have never had it myself, but my Mom did. Matthew's best friend just recently battled with it.. he was so exhausted and not able to sleep well at all.

I'm glad that your friend finally got her trailer. Although it's not her own home, at least it will do for now for some privacy and a bit of independance.

Keep in touch when you can. Like Els said, you certainly haven't been forgotten... and we are all wishing good things for you and other people from New Orleans. I can't imagine having to go through anything like that. The worst weather we ever get here in our area is MAJOR snow storms with total white-out conditions that bring everyone to a standstill for a few days... and in tornado weather we sometimes get the high winds that bring down branches (and sometimes entire trees) from a tornado that goes past a few close miles outside of town. So hurricanes, floodings, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc are way beyond our comprehension... we just know what we see on the news, and that is bad enough to make us count our blessings and stop complaining about *occasional* snow storms and high winds.

*hugs* Gemini

Hi Olwyn Mary,

It's great to see you again, and I've been thinking of you especially when I see the trailers just sitting there and no one getting into them so I'm glad your friend will be.

Hugs,

Nora

I like that analogy, although with the record heat we are having this week - 90F most days - I feel more like a lamb taken into the farm kitchen and curled up behind the solid fuel stove.

We have not

Jim Lehrer is one of the things we have had to give up. We have two PBS stations, one was completely destroyed in the levee breaks, and the other badly damaged, so for a while we only got Louisana Public Broadcasting relayed from Baton Rouge, then the local ones teamed up for some things, and Jim Lehrer somehow got shifted to a late night time slot. However, I have a roof over my head, food on the table and air conditioning!!! I need a few more clothes for my back, but sewing them will have to wait a little longer.

It will all come together, Do not worry about not getting the mainstream news. Most of it is bad news, people complaining, and all the hateful things we seem to do to one and other. It is much healther living without the news. Take it easy and one day at the time and stay cool

Great to hear from you Olwyn and it is good to know that your home was not badly affected. I do not know what kind of computer trouble you have but there are newsgroups with MVP's ( Most Valued Professional volunteers) who seem to know most of the answers - I could try and look up the one you would need but I am sure you could find it on Google.

There are also groups who try and help but maybe with not alot of serious knowledge. The MVPs are chosen from all the news groups by Microsoft as the folk giving the best answers and so you can really rely on them. Each MVP specialises on a particular thing - and some have a web site devoted to it ( my daughter specialises on "word")

Hope this is helpful. God Bless Gwen

Hi Gwen,

Thanks for that tip as I think at one time or another we all need some help, I know I do and have sent that note to myself and will definitely try it when I need it.

Hi Olwyn Mary

I'm realitively new to the group, so you probably don't know me, but I just wanted to send out my support to you. I live in south Mississippi, north of the coastal destruction, but I've seen the MS coast first hand, and I know how bad things were and are. DH & I are planning our first trip to your lovely city since the storm, and we can't wait.

Good Vibes to you and all the people of NOLA!

We're coming on Saturday the 29th in the afternoon and leaving on the following Sunday the 30th. It's going to be a bunch of business stuff for him & I don't know if I will have any free time, but I made him promise me we could go by the Quarterstich in the French Quarter. It's a great little yarn shop. We're staying in the Quarter, and meeting his boss and some co-workers for some kind of meeting. When I know more about it, I'll let you know. We intend to visit more often. It's only a 2 hour drive for us.

Hello, Olwyn Mary!

You don't know me 'cause I'm fairly new here. You posted after Hurricane Katrina, and I've thought of you many times since then. Just the other day I was wondering how you are and how you've made out, so I was very pleased to see you pop back here again. :o)

Sorry to hear of your healthy struggles -- stress makes us so much weaker to fight against illness -- but I am glad to hear that you're in your house. I hope things go well for your friend moving into the FEMA trailer (finally!!!) It makes my head spin to realize how poorly the country's handled this tragedy.

I wish you well and hope to get to know you here. Smiles, Eve :o)

PS - I think you said you're from England, but are you perhaps Welsh?

Hi Eve: Thanks for all your good wishes. Like everyone else in this region, I'm just taking life one day at a time. No, I'm not Welsh, they spell the name with an e not a y. Mine is alleged to be very early British.

Olwyn Mary... my apologies for not responding sooner... things are a bit wild in the household, studio and office right now... but I simply HAD to acknowledge your re-emergence back into the fold! Hugs, Noreen
