My religion doesn't do Lent, and neither does my children's, but my son likes to say that he's giving up Christianity for Lent

Shelagh, I don't *do* religion either, but it seemed appropriate to mention as

*some* *DO* do "religion", grin. Noreen

Oh yes! It was awful, the tooth was crowned some yearsago and only the root and a shell was left after the crown dropped out in September. It was impossible to crown it again so it had to go. It had to be prised out and it was a long, difficult job and my mouth is sore this morning. I expected it to be bad so I wasn't disappointed :-)

Last week I had one out (no more for sometime I hope!) and felt nothing at all afterwards, it was a perfect extraction. In fact I find myself still brushing it :-)

One of the other posts reminded me that when our children were younger and at home I vowed to give up Christmas for Lent ...

I am a Christian and I keep Lent as a period of contemplation about my life and how I can improve it. It's not usually successful :-(

Giving things up isn't part of that as a rule because we don't lead an indulgent life - but I wouldn't hold a party during Lent. When I was younger I didn't eat meat during Lent but that wasn't about giving it up, it was part of the contemplation.

Don't worry, I'm not a preacher!
