OT: Non-Bead Crochet

I know this is the wrong place to ask. Except that this is where my friends are.

I made cotton pot holders for my daughter and she asked if I could make them non-slip. Does anyone here know of something I could apply or crochet in that would be non-slip and still tolerate the necessary heat?

Bit of a long shot, but you could try putting teflon tape into the crochet. Don't know how long it would last, but it would take the heat well. Never tried to crochet non-slip anything.

I wonder if a heat-resistant silicone caulk would work?

Should have said that in my first reply: For us people here this isn't the wrong place to ask anything (as long as you don't mind putting it out in public).

What Barbara suggested sounds good, if you can find something that doesn't remain too sticky, yet sticks (I think you get my drift).

Tina, this was one of my thoughts as well. I have used silicone caulk for a lot of things that I wanted non-slip (e.g., dots under lamp bases) or to protect from heat (missing handle cover on hot iron). I don't know how caulk would work on fiber, but it should stick as well to that as well as it does to anything else (although it might not stick to wool, but should stick to cotton). You could get really creative with it too -- dots, swirls, strips, squiggles, etc. Let us know if you try this.

The other thing you might try is tacking on silicone rings -- actually I think I remember my grandmother doing that with rubber canning rings.
