OT - Ping Jennifer in Ottawa

Jennifer, Just wanted to say that had I known where I was really going this past weekend, I would have tried for a meet up with you! DH and I were in Gatineau for the balloon festival this past weekend and I had no idea we were going to be next to Ottawa until we were there! A lovely city, indeed. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to see too much of it except for flying over it a couple of times and then coming back through after the flights. A VERY busy weekend. Did I miss anything by not stopping in Fabricland in Gatineau? (just to be a little on topic)

Maybe next time if we go there again.

Hi Kim - you were lucky with the weather for this year's festival. My sister was disappointed because the balloons are usually visible from her apartment balcony and that didn't happen this year for some reason? Fabricland is a nationwide chain that is much improved since it first opened years ago - they carry their own brand name of quilting cottons

- some of the designs are similar to other more famous names...when their sales are happen> Jennifer,

Sorry we didn't fly over your sister's house! Is she in Ottawa as well? Flew that direction Fri. AM and Sat. AM. Sat PM/Sun. AM both cancelled due to wind. Sun PM toward Alyhmer (sp) and Mon. AM toward Gatineau airport. DH got his fingers tapped by the organizers for landing in the street Sun. PM, although it was a great landing and we only disrupted traffic for about 10 min.

Yes, sounds like Fabricland is equivalent to our JoAnn's. I would still have liked to have a look around just for fun and a different perspective. Prices on most things didn't seem too bad as the exchange rate is not too far off 1-1 right now. Then again we only did a quick spin through the grocery store to pick up things for Sat. PM picnic and at a few restaurants at very late hours.

Yeah, we were at least one of them! Not sure if there were others or not. Didn't see any TV cameras on the ground but they may have gotten us from the air.

Since you're a tennis person (which I'm not), we were w/Bud Collins and his wife Anita this past summer ballooning in Switzerland as well. Very nice man. Very eccentric - as you can tell by the pants!

- but very nice. One of our dinners was also w/Roy Emerson (sp) for Bud's birthday while we were there!
