OT: scarce for a while...will check in

Just wanted you all to know I will be here not as often for a while. My dad fell last Friday and broke both fibula and tibia in his left leg, while mowing grass. Luckily one of the neighbors witnessed it and called 911. He is in the hospital here in Peoria,IL. I will be here in Peoria til Tuesday, as he is having surgery on Monday. He is miserable, in pain, and very frustrated that he is going to be "down" for the summer. He had some travel plans and things he wanted to do now that our weather has finally started to warm up and act spring- like. He loves to work outside and do wood working, and he wont be able to either one of those things for probably 8-12 weeks depending on his recovery. His workshop is in the basement, and I dont him navigating any steps in the near future. My sister and I will be here to help as needed, and as work allows. Neither one of us can afford to take a lot of time off work, but we will work something out. My aunt offered to take care of him at her house in Indy (his sister) but we will see if that is going to be a viable option. Say some prayers that the surgery goes well tomorrow will ya? thanks so much! I will be checking in periodically

Linda OH! ps...on a good note..my MIL is now out of the hospital and living with SIL afer having a stroke last week. Luckily she was in rehab at a nursing home recovering from pneumonia when she had the stroke, so they got her to the ER quickly! She has a long road to recovery but she is glad to be 'home'.

Sounds like your family is really going through it right now. I hope that your father's surgery went well today and I will pray for a speedy and full recovery for him, as well as pray for your MIL and everyone else in your family. I hope you can find a place for a new shop for him, happiness is everything after all.

Oh Linda, so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know what it can be like for someone used to being busy and going suddenly being stopped by something like this. Hoping for a speedy recovery and all goes well with MIL also. Thoughts and prayers are with you and family, Sandy

Linda,

So sorry that he hurt himself that badly. I too know what it is like for a male member of my family to be down and out for an extended period of time. It happened to both my own Dad and my Dear F-In-L. Both are gone now, but both loved to be outside and almost always were doing gardening, repairing something or just outside... They neither one liked to be inside for long... Will keep you and both family members in my prayers...
