Buttonhole machine?

We have both types and serviced the machine but still can't get them to work correctly. The right hand side and the two ends are fine, but the left side sews wider than the right. It's like the attachment flexes more when going down the left side.

I have a Greist

It has to be the right model for the machine. Short shank should work on any short shank machine. You may need a different one for the white...they are odd balls in a lot of accessories.

I don't know if it's a good idea to use one of those

So far its worked great for 10 years. I do all my husbands shirts because he is a gifted fellow. Shirt fronts have 12 buttonholes to accommodate his height.

It was a Singer buttonholer from the 60s, and it

that would be a slant shank buttonholer. They were in Pink jetsons cases and burgundy pebble cases. Only fit the slant shank machines.

The Pink Jetsons is for slant machines, the Turquoise Jetsons is straight short shank, the Burgundy Pebble is slant shank, the Green Pebble is straight short shank and the Black pebble was issued for the straight short shank Featherweight machine according to my Singer literature. White, Kenmore and others had their own Greist versions of the buttonholer. I use the Famous too for over sized ones in fleece and wool etc. Anything heavy.....and on a vintage Singer as the Pfaff will not handle those fabrics easily when doing buttonholes.

It didn't work on the Simplicity short-shank I had before the White, either. Works a treat on the Singer short-shank I have, and worked fine on the Singer I used in college, though.

This one was mispacked then, because it most certainly was a short-shank buttonholer. Not that it really mattered, because all she wanted it for was a couple of cams that she had lost out of hers, and couldn't find anywhere else.

Slants are a short shank machine, just on a slant.

Did I mention tht I have machines to go with them? Not as many machines as buttonhole attachments, though. Not quite.

I have a Kenmore (385.)19233 and I find it makes buttonholes wonderfully well and my grandma who's a very well trained seamstress was very impressed by the results when I shown it to her.
