Thank you.
We all have our areas of expertise: I can never get things like that to turn out looking good!
Thank you. One of this year's highlights!
Oh dear! Try again at 3:00 am? ;)
People keep sending me youTube things to look at, but my machine is too old and slow for them, so I do know the frustration!
That is absolutely incredible Kate! Nice job. WOW
Thjanks. :) I can't wait to see pix of her in it!
It's beautiful Kate, congratulations on a challenging job well done. I love something that's really difficult, it's so good for your soul. Juno
I've foudn though that when I'm up and awake is a perfect time to search the UK genealogy records :-))
I need to remember to use my satellite link to check your site but I hate it 'cos it doesn't do newsgroups so use it rarely.
:-)) Because we've had slow lines for so long before we added the satellite link, I've trained people not to send me photos or any big files. I haven't told anyone our satellite addy either as I found that they now think carefully about the stuff they send me and I get only the creme de la creme stuff and don't get bogged down in crud that I really don't need or want to look at anyway.
Thanks, Juno. I too love a challenge. On things like this the challenge is often in the research and experimenting rather than the actual sewing. Here the only actual sewing challenge was how to fix the waist together. A traditional waist seam wasn't going to work because of the weight of the skirt. Then I remembered these bridesmaid dresses I did some years ago... :D
A very wise move! :D
So pleading ignorance, are you in the outback somewhere? Just curious.
dusted!
FANTASTIC!!!
Erin
dusted!
Thank you.
Only once have I ever tried anything approaching this costume. My GD wanted to be Abe Lincoln for Halloween. Sewing the morning coat was easy enough because I was able to adapt a McCall's pattern. Making the stovepipe hat gave me pause. Making the cylinder for the stovepipe portion wasn't too great a stretch, but what about the brim? Then I saw an oval trash can in the livingroom which had the shape of the brim I imagined for it. I traced and enlarged it. A little cardboard, glue, grey felt, and grosgrain ribbon and voila! It wasn't anything near as beautifully done as yours and I can appreciate your's all the more for it. Two DG wore it before it became dinged up. Don't know what became of the morning coat. That was really fun to make.
Have been watching the Jane Austin series and paying close attention to the costumes. They should bring you in on their costume staff.

I'd like to do something like that, too. :)
Thanks but no thanks! I'd hate the pressure... ;)
