I just got this from her a few minutes ago in my email:

"Dear Sharon, Would you be kind enough to forward my answer to you to the group. I'm not on google groups any longer and had a note from Beverly asking about the Cape. Right now we are comfortably situated at my daughter's house in Amherst. We will know more tomorrow about how things are at the cottage. Most of our friends stayed there, but as I said the other day, we decided to leave because of the possibility of power loss and my need for electric for medication. Several friends have promised to call tomorrow morning and le t us know what is happening. We are hopeful that we can go back tomorrow afternoon. Thanks,  Juno"

She has to have electricity for her asthma meds. I checked in with her a couple days ago and she said that was her biggest concern. All of us thinking good thoughts has to help. :)

Thanks, Sharon, do please keep us in the loop as you get more messages from Juno. I was watching the news last night, and N. Carolina was really getting pounded (do we have any folks there?).

Earl seems to have slackened off today, but it's still a concern. I'm happy Juno moved inland.

Will do!!

I am too. The last I heard, they said category 2 now. So it's much better than the category 4 it was! Still no gentle spring rain. I told her I would be happy to pass that email along because I could hear the whole group worrying about her. Hoping they don't have a huge mess when they get back to the cottage.

That's my hope as well. Hurricanes are monstrous unpredictalbe beasts.

Glad to hear Juno is OK. Bloody hell, living in the global village increases the number of people you have to worry about enormously. This morning I heard on the radio about an earthquake in NZ, right in the area where our friends live. I just called them to hear if they are all right and, fortunately, they are, only their crockery isn't. They said they're lucky to live in a wooden house...

Juno sent me this information about theri situation this morning:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Beverly,

So far this morning I know that we have electric at the cottage so I think we will be leaving fairly early to go back out. I called and got my answering machine. It's just to early to call anyone to check and make sue there's no damage. From what I've seen on TV though, I think we'll be fine. Time to get out of my daughter's hair. I'll be in touch with some one over the weekend to tell you what it looks like out there. Feel free to post this message if you want so everyone knows we're alive and well. I can't tell you how much Bill and I appreciate everyones concern. Juno

I'm so glad your friends are alright, Ursula!! I saw pictures from NZ on the news. Just awful!!!! I guess it was a good thing it happened at the time of day it did so most folks were home in bed. At least they weren't in the cars that were parked on the streets and flattened by the bricks. Very scary stuff.

Sorry I missed getting back to everyone over the weekend. I couldn't get to a computer. When we got back to the cottage there wasn't a leaf on the ground or a puddle of water any place. The storm really lost a lot of force before it got to us. Nantucket had some flooding, but nothing serious. We just got back home about an hour ago and now have a ton of laundry and unpacking to do. Ursula, I'm so glad to hear that your friends are safe. They certainly had a far worse ordeal. We just had a bit of a scare and very anxious children. Many thanks again to all for your concern. Now on to the sewing machine. Juno

Welcome "home" Juno! I'm so happy to learn that your place on the Cape was not damaged. Have a nice catch-up day, then let us know what you are sewing.

WHEW!!!!! Glad it blew over with no damage at your place.

We are starting to get Hermine here. Just rain and we needed it. I don't think we will get the flooding like they have had in TX. Just supposed to rain from now till Friday. I'll be in the kitchen making apple butter anyway. ;)

I can almost smell the applebutter bubbling on the stove! Mmmmm

We had a short very intense 'something' come through here yesterday. Set an all time record for most rain in one hour. And since this is Portland, OR, that's saying something:

Funnily enough, I'm just south of the city limits, and never heard or saw anything, so it must have been *very* localized. DDs, both in NE PDX said it rained hard up there.

I cheat. I put it in the crockpot. But I have a 7 1/2 quart crockpot. So it's slightly cheating on a major scale.lol I will probably let it cook all night tonight, then can it tomorrow AM.

Hot apple butter for breakfast. :) Better make some waffles too.... lol

Wow. We call that a "frog strangler" around here. They are saying we may have anywhere from 4" to 10" by Friday afternoon. I'm hoping for the lower end of that. Once again glad to live at the Top of the hill.

That's not cheating, that's using your noggin! Beats having scorched applebutter because you failed to stir it or it got too hot.

Yum!

Giggle!

Fingers crossed for those at lower altitudes in your area.

I hope you have as easy a time as the Cape had. It's good to get rain when you need it, but no one needs 4 inches at once. Emily, were you afftected by the storm? ONe more thing, Sharon please share your recipe for apple butter. It's a big favorite of mine, So it peach Butter, Pear Butter, Pumpkin butter. The list goes on and on. Juno

Thanks so much! We are in a flash flood warning. And the streets that normally flood in a heavy rain are flooded and closed. So far, about 3" here since noon yesterday. Mostly it's coming down as a nice soaking rain. Starting to get heavier this morning. But they say it should be out of here by the time the boy's football game starts tonight. (cross your fingers!!)

I will send the recipe this afternoon. I'm in mid-waffle right now. Had to make waffles this morning so there could be waffles with hot apple butter. ;) It was great to wake up to the smell of apple butter this morning.

No, we weren't affected by Hermine, except for rain, but the Dallas area was. I suppose everyone saw the news about it. Some TV stations said Cypress(this area) got 4-inches, but there was no water in the streets or yards. I must say the weekend was very pleasantly cool, but it will be hot again today, so summer isn't gone yet.

Sharon and Emily, I hope you are both able to avoid damage. Emily, you don't need any more rain, no matter how little and Sharon I think it's time you told the rain god's enough is enough. I'm so sorry you both got any thing from Hermine. I think life in the Southern States has become a place where you should get hazardous pay. Is everyone else in the path of Hermine OK? Juno
