AD: KIFFA BEAD HEIRLOOM NECKLACE - AFRICA

Kiffa beads were traditionally made in Mauritania and are far and beyond the most elaborately complex beads made using the powdered glass method. In the little town of Kiffa, Mauritania, powdered glass is mixed with saliva and applied to a core consisting of an indigenous or European trade bead. The beads are then fired at a high enough heat to congeal and solidify the glass powder and base into a solid bead. Here is an exceptional older strand composed of 45 genuine Kiffa beads, each one completely unique from all others. Certainly an heirloom piece..... please note: we continually get offers to break up this strand and sell single beads. Please do not ask. It is sold as an intact strand, only.
