AD: lampworking class (was Re: Nashville Glass & Bead Stores)

For some reason I don't seem to be able to start a new thread, so here goes: I will be teaching a beginning lampworking/beadmaking workshop at my studio October 18 & 19. We start at 9am and go until the last person is standing. I have been teaching this class at my studio and at the Appalachian Center for Crafts for four years now. The cost is $150. A 10% discount for those who sign up and pay before Oct.11. This includes use of tools and glass. We will be using Minor Bench burners for torches. Come and be part of the madness that is hot glass!

As many years as I lived in Nashville, I still don't recognize that street name! Are you (guessing from your zipcode) over in the area by the Farmer's Market?

No it's in south Nashville between Greer Stadium and the fairgrounds. It's only two blocks long. Houston is parallel to Chestnut between Fourth Ave S and Martin. The building I am in used to be the May Hosiery Mill and they made socks for the astronauts (among others). When it was sold the landlord cut it up into smaller spaces. There are many artists and craftspeople there now. It is really a inspiring atmosphere to work in. There are lots of collaborations and such. If only we had heat... About two years ago the other building on the same side of the street (there are only five buildings on Houston) opened a gallery that has studio space. They are called Fugitive Art and their shows are usually the installation type rather than stuff you buy and take home.

Wow! Thanks for the info -- the next time I'm in Nashville (as opposed to driving thru it on the way to somewhere else), I'll have to go check this out.
