Beads for House-Cleaning?

So, what are the chances, do you think, that I can find someone in Calgary who'd trade house-cleaning services for beads?

How's that for wishful thinking!

Do they have a message board at your LBS where you could ask that question?

you could always go stand outside of your LBS with a sign that says "will clean for beads"

I guess I phrased my previous post incorrectly. I want to find someone who'll clean *my* house in return for my lampwork.

The good news is, I did find an artist I like who'll trade art for beads! She does neat work and I think this weekend she'll be bringing me a painting she did for some of my beads. : )

Gotta be happy with that.

I haven't actually seen any bulletin boards at any of the local bead stores. Perhaps that should change. : )

aha. hmm. I'd clean house for beads, but I have enough trouble keeping my own house clean, so I don't know how well that would go. I will rent out my sister and two hamsters for beads, though. The hamsters are fluffy, so if you let them crawl into those tight spots and corners, they'll dust as they go.

hmmmmmmmmmm.......... I think I see a trend here.

OK, I go to Kathy N-V in MA, then bop over to Cheryl in OH, and then take a swing up north to Calgary.

I think I've figured out what I'll do when I lose my job in the coming months!!! I'll become a professional Bead Ho', traveling the globe, working for beads and other related items, creating order out of chaos, and giving my son a diverse homeschool education, flavored by whatever geographic area in which we are currently ho'ing.

Does Craigslist cover Canada? Or is there a Canadian equivalent? I'll bet you'll be able to find someone.

This is the second time today I have seen the term "Craigslist" but I have no idea what it is. I'm off to Google it.

Sounds like a coffee mug on my desk at work.

FOR SALE: kitchen stove, hardly used. WILL TRADE FOR QUILT FRAME.

It says a few other things, but I can't remember. You get the gist.

The saying on your mug reminds me of a floral designer I once knew. She used her microwave for drying flowers rather than cooking or re-heating. I make dichroic glass pendants and donuts, I'd LOVE to trade some of them for housecleaning! I'm in NJ.Add me to your list, Katie!! Patti

well, I do sometimes cook ... (not this week though, I think). Running out of week here fast. Still have 51 norfolk pines that need to be put in planters, and another craft fair coming up Friday and Saturday, farmer's market Sunday (need to harvest some fruit + some other preparations like cutting treeferns).

yes, if anybody wants to clean house for Job's Tears, me too ... (I'm in HI) (actually, with a largish order coming up I'm almost out of

Job's Tears for the year too.)

Ouch. (too bad I don't have even a shed)

one problem I found over the years: niche markets are awfully fickle. I used to make the odd $50 on the side on retail grade passion fruit (this is retail grade in Hawaii - no wrinkles, and some people complain about the wrong shade of yellow or too many green spots on the spotted ones - not what you see in grocery stores in some places), that went away completely.

Maren (got another craft fair tomorrow afternoon/night and Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed. And farmer's market on Sunday. Another week with no weekend, and I can't even get done what I usually get done for the farmer's market)

I would like to book the bead room cleaner for a day or two a month here! All the tea and scones you can eat and a great wage for the day. Airfare sadly not included but bed and breakfast provided.
