Ending a multistrand with softflex

Are there bigger crimp tubes than the 2mm? Sometimes when I'm ending a 6 strand piece, I will try to double back thru the crimp with 3 of the wires, thus using 2 groupings of crimps. The wire does not fit well, I can get it thru but it takes the patience of a saint, and I'm running out of saints!! How do you end a multistrand when using softflex or beadalon?

Thanks for any inovative ideas or product reccomendations.

When making a multistrand piece, I will use a cone to hide the ends. Doing this you could simply tie the ends together and then use a piece of silver wire to wrap them and put the wire through the cone and make a circle to attach the fastener to. I think maybe this is as clear as mud. Can anyone else help out with this?

I have a tutorial up on our page on stringing a multistrand necklace that shows using a cone and wrapped loop ending.

Kathy, I put three strands in one crimp now and thus you have two groups. I then use another crimp and crimp 2 and 1 together form each of those groups creating two new groups using a total of 4 crimps. I figure I should double crimp the strands and this give me a small loop area between the two crimps to slide the wire in. I do a one wrap loop to make sure the stands can't work their way out. I used to do each strand individually making a loop to feed the wire through each stand and only crimped once. I heard so much about crimp failure here and on another group that I decided that I wanted to use two crimps per strand. I am not comfortable tieing softflex that much.

Susan.

That's exactly what I do. I usually make a wrapped loop rather than a plain circle for security, and sometimes add a bit of glue, too. (I'm totally paranoid about pieces coming apart)

Same here. I forgot that part! I love glue!
