I arrived home on Friday to an envelope and a quickly scribbled message from my daughter in law, could I fix her broken piece of jewellery. It had broken and they had gathered up bits and pieces. Inside the envelope was a bright big purple plastic bead with turquoise bits dotted on and lots of bright beads dangling from it.
It took time but I gathered up suitable coordinating colours and made up a masterpiece of a necklace with the big bead as part of a drop. All the time I thought, "What would Rochelle wear this with?" A black v necked dress but why not classier beads?
Anyway, they called in today and I proudly said, "Your necklace is ready." She exploded with laughter and said, "That is a key ring, rather ghastly but I can always find it."
We have laughed all afternoon. She took the dangle bit back and I have kept an unusual necklace which took me out of my comfort zone and goes well with my black top. It also looks better by itself.
They live a long way from us and were going to Auckland for a concert which was postponed.
Cheers, Jan
