OT - anyone in Chicago or Louisville, KY - weather?

Hi, all, Here's an inquiry for any of you in the Chicago/Milwaukee or Louisville, KY area - how much snow did you get with these two separate storms would you say? I'm in NJ, supposed to hit here tomorrow - of course, I'm supposed to go to Wheaton Village (2hours south of here), tomorrow to for the paperweight class. So....just curious .....it doesn't sound good, but...I'm still hopeful. Chime in with how bad the storms are - puhleeze. Weather people here always exaggerate everything, hard to tell what's really going on. Patti

I am near Dayton it took me 45 minutes to make a 20 minute drive home.... from 5 pm to

545 PM.. at that time we had 2 inches... it is nearly 7 pm - and we now have over four inches and it is still falling... Everyone in my family is safe and home and we are staying there.... suspect there will be no school tomorrow, and hoping there are "weather delay" for work....

I don't think the weather man is lying this time - it's on the way East...

Chicago, here. I left work at 3:30 p.m. today and the snow wasn't even covering the soles of my shoes. Two and half hours later, when I got home (a trip that usually takes about an hour), snow was well above my ankles. On the news, they're reporting that some areas have already hit close to ten inches. Plows and salt trucks are out, and it's expected that the streets will be passable in the morning.

Oh, and it's *really* pretty :)

Cheers, Carla

Six inches on the back patio right now - the snow stopped here about

920 - but it was still snowing north of us.....

hope you are ready for the morning!

I hear our trucks out plowing - and the news showed major roads cleared (but messy)....

I suppose I will have to battle my way in to the office tomorrow, unless I chicken out and tell the boss I'm staying home.... I have time off available.......

we didn't really get much snow here in louisville. I had to leave work an hour early, though, and someone had to come get me because my car simply would not have been able to make the road I live on (a steep and curvy hill). There was a lot of sleet and rain, but not enough snow to even cover the ground. More like a very light dusting that was mostly destroyed by the rain.

With the way the weather people were hyping up the storms, people were in a panic. I work at a university, and we got our first "will school be closed???" question at 7:45 AM. the offices were keeping a tally of how many such calls we all took..one office took 79, my office took 75, and when I did switchboard duty for ten minutes to give the receptionist a break, I took 37 weather related calls. every single line was lit up, and I did not get to put the phone down for a second. It got to the point where if someone asked if school was canceled, instead of explaining why not and telling them to watch local news to see if school did somehow get canceled, I'd just say "No!" and hang up because I didn't have time to explain.

Thanks for all the reports. The Midwest contingent was right - we have about 4-5 inches, Millville, where Wheaton Village is located, had ice, freezing rain, etc. Wheaton delayed their opening by 2 hours. We didn't go, too many accidents between here and there, and I just didn't feel like digging out the car - snowplow went by and dumped huge chunks of ice in front of the driveway. The good news is that they have the paperweight classes all year round, so we can re-schedule after the holidays.
