OT: Chipped glass?

DH suggested I ask this here....

DS took one of my jewelry files to my monitor screen, and now I have little specks where the corner of the file chipped the glass. The biggest one is about the size of a grain of salt. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do about this?

TIA!!:o)

Heh...he's only 3....he was using them as drumsticks. He's been grounded from the computer for four days now (he called me a bad name! *gasp*), so he was acting out :-\

I have bad news for you, there is nothing you can do short of buying a new monitor. You can't polish it out, monitor screens have a coating on them for one thing. For the other, when you polish glass, you create a "dent" where the scratch, etc. was removed. This will create a lens-type effect in the area, distorting whatever part of the image that is in the area. To head off future problems, you might put a protective screen over the monitor screen. Then, when a little one does a no-no, all you have to replace is an inexpensive cover. Barbara Dream Master

That's what I thought...it doesn't bother me, really, but DH is freaked about it (boys and their toys, ya know).

Thanks:o)

Cheryl is right. This comes up about every couple of months in rec.crafts.glass and no one has any answer. Also, the nature of monitor screens means if you try and do too much to them they could implode (vacuum tubes).
