OT - Digital Fortress

I finished Digital Fortress by Dan Brown yesterday. Pulled an all-nighter and read it at one sitting. I recommend this book. Now I want to learn MORE about cryptography. Also I need to figure what key to use to decipher the message at the end of the book. Awaiting the release of The Di Vinci Code in paperback. Can't afford the price of the hardback copy.

What do you think about the characters in the book and Dan Brown's books in general?

Ray ( Shhhh, I live in Maryland, not far from No Such Agency so type softly if you respond as they may be listening!!!!!!!!!) ;-)

I read Digital Fortress earlier this month when I was in Florida. Great and fun read! I will give you some hints for breaking the code at the end of the book if you like :-) It's a two part code: First part is easy, second part is a stretch.

I was NSA when I was in the Army. Stationed at Ft. Meade. And that's all I have to say about THAT. Heheheheh...

Da Vinci Code is, in my opinion, a better read than his other books. I like his female characters, and like his protagonist a lot.

What is the order that I should be reading these? I assume it's more of a mystery? I read scifi, but with all the talk, I thought I would give it a try...

Digital Fortress satnds alone.

Angels and Demons introduces the main character that then appears in DaVinci Code.

I too enjoyed DF. But A&D! Oh my! I pulled an all-nighter running all over Rome with Robert Langdon. ;-)

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from "Linda2" :

]My son used to work for No Such Agency.

Johnny considered it - for about five minutes. the conversation went something like:

Mom: Trust me, it would never work!

John: But, why not?

Mom: Undercover work? You are SO "white boy" and that's not where they need undercover . . .

John: yabut

Mom: How are your foreign languages?

John: yabut

Mom: When was the last time you kept a secret for more than 20 minutes?

John: oh. yeah. okay. i guess i see what you mean.

end of THAT discussion!

I only made it as far as B&N to pick up Angels and Demons. Still working on the code at the end of Digital Fortress.

A friend of mine's mother use to work there and is VERY upset that after many years of just having a plain exit sign, the sign now reads NSA EXIT.
