Has anyone else seen this yet? It's FABULOUS! All kinds of stuff that didn't make the theatrical release, a full *43 minutes* of new/extended scenes. Lots more of the Ents, some great comic bits, a lovely flashback scene showing the family dynamics between Denethor, Boromir, and Faramir. Well worth buying IMO.

Isn't it wonderful - my nephew bought it the first day it came out and brought it over for us to watch last weekend. Makes the Two Towers so much richer - I was quite disappointed in the theatrical release, but this fills in the gaps beautifully and moves it away from being a boy's "shoot em up", which it what the theatrical release felt like to me.

We specifically waited for this set. DH was going to get it for Christmas, but he couldn't wait, so there might not be much under the tree for him now.
It's what I'm thinking about getting for my parents for Xmas, especially if DSis and BIL go halves with us (just under $60 AUD).
i am reading the books for the second time. i love them. i havent seen the second movies yet but i cant wait to! i am tempted to just wait till all 3 are in a set and i can buy the set, but i just broke down and got part one on dvd :D

Yes. Celine, We bought it and love it. The added things about Boromir and Faramir really help one realize what a strong person Faramir is to let Frodo go and not take possession of the ring. We love all things LOTH. I bought my daughter a silver ring with 24 kt gold plate replica of the one ring. A seller on Ebay named Oregonsilver sells them in gold plate and in silver. Excellent service and beautiful ring. It comes in a velvet bag on a silver chain.
I lost my husband to this three days ago. I think he's still alive, but since he's wearing earphones and frozen in place in front of his computer, it's really hard to tell ....

He is exactly right. I can't tell you how many times I read those books, as a kid and as a young adult. Over and over and over. Just loved them.
