OT: yarn to give away

Is anyone in this group a knitter? I went through my yarn stash this morning and came up with several items that I don't anticipate ever using. Some are left over from completed projects, others, I'm not sure exactly why I bought them! Anyway, I am glad to give them away to anyone who wants them.

  1. ivory shetland wool (2-ply): 2 large (machine knitting size) spools and one ball
  2. light gray shetland wool (2-ply): 1 medium (machine knitting size) spool
  3. pink-white-gray novelty yarn with slubs ("Shadows" by Knitting Fever, Inc.), 54% cotton, 6% nylon, 40% rayon, 4 sts/in: 10 skeins (40g, 52 yds each)
  4. Berroco Glace 100% rayon pale aqua: 4.5 spools (150 yds ea)
  5. Schaffhauser Nancy (43% cotton, 32% acrylic, 17% viscose, 8% silk) gray and white, very soft, 5.25 sts/in 14 balls (50g, 115meters ea.)
  6. Dusty pink textured yarn of unknown composition (perhaps cotton blend): 2 full (machine knitting size) spools
  7. Blue-green and white boucle of unknown composition (perhaps wool/rayon blend?): 1 large machine knitting size spool.
  8. Blue and white marled yarn (95% wool, 4 sts/in): 1 lb, 1170 yards
  9. Berroco Dji Dji kelly green mohair-type yarn (77% wool, 23% viscose), 4 sts/in): 5 50-gram balls

Hi Georgia,

I have an 12 yr. old that's started knitting and would take anything you want to get rid of. All she's asking for for her b.day and Christmas is yarn! I'll trade you some beads for some!

I wished I lived near you I would loved to have had the Berroco Glace. Sounds just the right thing for my tassels.

I tried to do the same myself, go through the yarn stash, recently. One of the results is that I knitted or crocheted many scarves which will be teriffic gifts. I took all the leftovers from one kind of yard and crocheted a circular blanket/afghan last week. I guess maybe I "overcrocheted" as the resulting blanket covers the back of my couch, and I am sure it would cover most of my bed as well. The challenge now is to weave in all those pesky yarn ends.My oldest grandson's response when he saw it was, "wow, grandma you must have really been bored". Not bored, but I am into week 4 since my foot/ankle reconstruction surgury and I have no lack of time on my hands, LOL! No weightbearing on that cast encased leg, which means time off work and plenty of time for creative endeavors!

How cool for her to be able to use some lovely yarns to learn on.

All the yarn was spoken for by 3:00 this afternoon (I also posted on rec.creafts. textiles.yarn)-- I heard from two folks who had connections to the community where I live. A couple were beginning knitters. One was a guy who makes stoles for priests.
