oh, good. not just me.

yes, i know that doll. we obviously just don't see colors the same way.

i have a very, very hard time putting my jewelry against anything but a mostly solid color. luckily, except for my t-shirts, my wardrobe IS mostly solid colors. busy fabrics make me uncomfortable to start with. and *to me* the jewelry gets lost in the background. which is not where i want it to be.

lately, no matter what i look at in clothing, my first thought is "how would pendant look against that." and many many times, i walk away . . . because *for me* it wouldn't look right.

I know what you mean. Usually the way I wear jewelry, the clothes and neckline are part of the frame, for my face and jewelry. I like wearing an intricate pattern that comes across as a color interacting. And usually I chose jewelry to match my clothing, not visa versa.

they can sometimes look better together than a solid-colored "stage."

I totally agree, Sooz! I wear lots of batik prints with my jewelry.

I would love to see some examples of jewelry and patterned tops, and how they 'work' together. Anyone have some favorites they'd be willing to share images of?

I've been accused of having "eclectic" style, but really it's just that I put on whatever the first things I see happen to be. I do try to shop in such a way that all the things I own go together, and since I hate shopping that effort consists of buying five of the same pants in different colors, and twelve of the same shirts in different colors, and going home.

In my opinion, though, stripe shirts and plaid pants ALWAYS go together, so the resulting wardrobe isn't to everyone's taste... and I avoid the question of whether my shirt complements my jewelry by favoring v-necks and keeping necklaces at choker-length! I have a fabulous Tink bead that goes with everything, actually, a long skinny bicone that I wear "bone-style" on a choker.

Thats the way I want my wardrobe to be... multiples of the same style in different colors, all purple, lol. I guess I better get sewing again! Diana

I *love* the idea of a wardrobe of identical pieces in varying shades of purple! How cool would that be? Everything from periwinkle to eggplant.

I felt so proud when I went into Macy's Womens (a seperate store in the mall here), and found a skirt for clearance (50%), that had an additional 40% off. I don't remember the original, but the final price was $14.50.

When I went shopping for the birthday weekend, I misunderstood the price (was thinking of the 40% off additional), and picked out $225 worth of clothing, thinking it was a tad over $100. WHOOPS! So I pared it down to 2 outfits for about $100. But that weekend was the additional 25% off, so on Sunday, we took the receipt back, and got that back off. Not bad.
