The kiln blues

Okay guys, I shouldn't complain. I have a huge kiln in the garage that I've never even plugged it yet. We are waiting to get the 220 installed. Then I have the new little kiln since I burned up my last one. Now I'm wanting another at our local glass shop. I think I'm pushing my luck...but maybe, just maybe it's within reach.

The only good thing about the new kiln is that it has a digital controller. That way I won't have to wear my stop watch around my neck and make sure I don't fall asleep.

Ok here is an idea so you don't have to wear a stop watch around your neck. The lady who is selling me her kiln w/out the controller suggested this - it's what she did. She plugged the kiln into one of those power bars and then plugged the power bar into a time - the cheap kind of timer you can get to turn your christmas tree off after an hour or two or whatever - so when the hour went by, her power to the power bar got killed, the kiln turned off... and she didn't have to worry about it.

Maybe that will work for you? Hoping it works for me...

My kiln has various temps and it keeps climbing if I don't watch it carefully. With the last kiln I completely forgot it was on and fell asleep. Woke up an hour later with a glowing kitchen and thankful I didn't burn the house down.

I only use the kiln when DH is home so he can make sure I don't forget. Until I get the controller built for this one, that is.
