Dongle Broke

My dongle popped a pin and needs to be replaced I guess. I took it back to the store where I purchased it but the turnaround time for a replacement is not really to good. But they sent it off to never never land or wherever. I know you can buy dongles at electronic stores but are they programmed or something for the software.? I use embird software customizing and digitizing and all the rest. Is there a crack to that software so I can get by until I get my dongle back?

Not "security" dongles. Wi-fi attachments and some other accesories are also called dongles.

Of course they are. Otherwise what good would they be?

Embird doesn't use dongles.

To be kind, you seem to be using a lot of terms whose meaning you don't know. Otherwise, I'd just say that your story leaks like a sieve.

I wiggled my usb dongle out of the port and a pin popped out or something so it will not go back in. It is a security dongle for the software. But cannot use any of my software without it. It is husqvarna software customizing and digitizing. Is there anything I can do besides wait for them to fix it. thank you

That's the lamest attempt to find a crack that I've ever encountered on the newsgroup. Your story doesn't make much sense. Embird doesn't use a Dongle.

I was told my Ellure didn't use one either yet I can see it very plainly sitting a top my cpu.

Sorry - just force of habit :) But your saying "embird" sure made it sound peculiar, don't you agree?

The dongle comes with the Viking software and is very specific to that software. In fact, it's specific to only one version and to only one configuration (set of programs).

AFAIK, Digitizer doesn't need the dongle, but Customizer does.

The Viking dongle I have contains easily removable little "buttons". These buttons are what actually contain the security codes. But since your dealer took them along with your dongle, you no longer have the option of acquiring a "blank" dongle (available from their manufacturer) and putting in the buttons.

There have been "cracked" versions of some Husqvarna/Viking software posted in abcp from time to time (where I NOW see you've also posted your question). I believe that yours would be a morally legitimate use of such software, but it's not without its problems, and I would STRONGLY recommend against installing a technically questionable version when you already have a legally technically perfect edition. (The two might not be able to coexist peacefully).

Afraid that for all practical purposes, you're stuck. Dongle-dependent software can do that. Just be glad you didn't lose it ... they'd make you buy an entire new software system!

In another thread you said that your dealer offered to lend you hers - why not take her up on that offer? If they're not too far away, you might arrange to use it as needed, shuttling it back and forth.

Your Ellure uses a dongle? What for? I bought my wife an Ellure and we don't have, nor need a dongle. If you're running some sort of digitizing software then I could see that requiring it but for basic design read/writes to a card there's no need for a dongle.

You've got me confused.....

I have Viking Husq customizing also. Believe me, there is no where else to get the dongle except for Viking in Westlake OH. I would check to see if just the dongle can be purchased otherwise, it may only be purchased along with the customizing software all over again. I also ran into a problem (unknowing) that the dongle has to be customized according to your processor, I have an AMD K-6 and the dongles are manufactured Pentium so I Viking had to send my dongle away to have it re-configured to my processor.
