dongle crack?

~Been awhile since I've been here.. My wife just bought the Bernina 730 to ~replace her 180. She also bought the V5 upgrade. ~She would like to give the 180 and software to our daughter, however the ~upgrade software requires you to insert the old dongle along with the new ~one to transfer the information to the new one but the dealer said it then ~erases the old dongle making it useless. So much for giving the software to ~our daughter. Is this true and if so is there a crack for the V4 USB ~dongle?? ~I know there is a crack for the old parallel port dongle.

Yes it is true that when a version is upgraded the upgrade V5 needs to read the installed previous version in order to confirm that your are actually "upgrading" and not trying to use it as a stand alone installation. Once it "reads" the dongle (security device) from the previous version and confirms that it is a proper device, it will "brain drain" the old dongle rendering it useless. So the old version of the software can no longer be used.

So, if the computer dies after the upgrade, you're screwed.

No. Not at all. Once the upgrade is done, THEN V5 will work (and install) as a stand alone version. Just don't lose your NEW dongle as it will still be required to run the program (same as the older versions).
