dryer sheets

I read embroidery hints that say used dryer sheets are a dandy stabilizer and then I read cautions about not using dryer sheets.....which is it and why?

Beats me. I've often used it. I also use adding machine tape sometimes, though the paper will dull a needle faster than fabric. But there are times when it is a lifesaver. Oh, I only use used dryer sheets so that all the "stuff" is out of them. Yes, I do reuse dryer sheets in the dryer, too, if they still have a lot of softener and other chemicals in them. By the time they get to my embroidery machine, they're well worn.
