Someone today asked me if I would monogram three letters on 92 karate suites in 1.5" or 2" size and in oriental font. The amount of stitches would be for the 1.5" is 1570 and for the 2" would be 2517 stitches. We came up with $4.50 to $5.00 per item calculating my time and materials. How would you price it and is this price ok?

This is my first big project so I need some advise.

Thanks in advance sewso

Well......you are on the low side of OK.........You won't make any money.........that figures out to about $.75 per thousand stitches, and it is not a good way to get rich.......however, it will cover your expenses, and if they are fast sew-outs (3 to 6 minutes) you should be OK.

Maybe you won't need to stabilize if they are those heavy canvas ones...........

No one can tell you for sure what the going rate is......it varies by area..........I quote that rate on my Brother 2002D which is NOT a commercial machine. If the commercial places are charging less, you may want to think about the rate........but I would not take the job too cheap......you will be stuck with the pricing to word of mouth clients........Stay reasonable, but pay yourself at least $15.00 per hour plus materials (backer, thread). You are worth it!

What is the difference between advise and advice ??

Bill

Whether or not you bother to use a dictionary.

"advice" is what you give to somebody.

"advise" is what you do to somebody.
