When I create a design with PED V5, my friend cant read it with his V2.5 software. Is that normal?

I think that happens often with upgrades. Try doing a 'file' then 'save as' then choose a V2 format to save in. I have different software, but that's how I am able to save it in a format that can be read by the older versions. See if that works.

Not quite.
In the Layout and Editing section (where you save the design) there is a drop down menu where you Save As.
It offers you the choice of saving in V5, 4, v3, v2, or v1 formats.
Oh that other software designers would offer such backwards compatibility!
