Quantum Futura advice

Hi; I am new to this group, as I have just purchased my first embroidery machine. My name is Linda and I live in Northern Ontario, Canada. I am married with 2 kids and am sewing for a living (?) which is not as easy as it sounds in a town of 3000 cheap people lol.

My question is actually for my mother, who is looking at purchasing the Quantum Futura sewing machine for it's embroidery capabilities. Our problem is that the closest Singer dealer (who is 100 miles away) does not stock this machine, so we could not look at and try the machine the last time we were there. We are looking to see if anyone else nearby (or as near as you can get in Northern Ontario) stocks it so she can have a look at it. I was wondering if anyone here has that machine and what are your feelings and experiences with it.

Thanks for your input.

Linda

I bought the Futura and ended up trading it in for a more expensive Baby Loch. Here's what I learned:

1) The software that it comes with is useless for doing any custom digitizing. You can't take a graphic or image and manually stitch it out. The automatic "punching" did a really bad job. 2) The stitch quality is "poor". Great for your kid's clothes but not OK if you're trying to get some $'s from the local cheap people. Funny, they always have money for beers eh? 3) The computer must be connected to the sewing machine to embroider. I.e. if you need to stitch something out for 30 minutes, your PC is dedicated to that task.

PS I used to live in Ontario and got tricked into moving to San Diego about

5 years ago. I keep meaning to move back but haven't managed to find the time to call the movers
