BATTLEFIELD BAND - NEW BRITISH TOUR DATES

Battlefield Band have just announced that they'll be playing at the Stony Stratford 'Stony Live Festival' near Milton Keynes. Matt Armour, the festival organiser, has been asking them for ages to play at this one so they're pleased to be able to do it this year. The band will also be playing in Nettlebed a few nights later. This concert is always a pleasure to play and they're looking forward to it.

The boys will then be playing a series of summer Scottish concerts, focussing on the Highlands and Islands. So much time is spent on tour in Europe and the USA that the band don't get to play in Scotland as much as they'd like, so some 'home ground' gigs are always welcome and promise to be great fun. It looks like the concert in Musselburgh will also be filmed (possibly for a new DVD?) and recorded so book your tickets now if you fancy being part of the experience!

It's also that time again when the band are start to think about making some new recordings and tinkering with ideas for a new album. Hopefully they'll manage to squeeze in some studio time in between concerts and festivals over the coming months. As always, keep checking the website for details...

MIKE KATZ - NEW PIPING ALBUM COMING SOON

We've had lots of people asking about the upcoming release of Battlefield Band piper Mike Katz's solo album so here's the lowdown:

Mike has been working on this album, on and off (mostly off!), over the last 3 years. This can be attributed to the fact that he's been kept so busy touring and recording with Battlefield Band that it's been incredibly difficult to make time for solo projects. Nonetheless, Mike has drafted together various friends of his, including renowned jazz guitarist Kevin Mckenzie, John Martin of the Tannahill Weavers, ace concertina player Simon Thoumire and Battlefield Band's own fiddle maestro Ali White, and recorded a fine piping album which includes plenty of his own tunes.

He's currently mixing the record so we still haven't set an official release date but if all goes smoothly the CD should be available before Battlefield Band's September tour in the USA
