Glass Paints Lifespan

Dec 31, 2003 3 Replies

Hi everyone

I have some glass paints (unopened) about 2+ yrs old. Do you think they would OK to use or do they deteriorate with time?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks Karen

Hi Connie

They are high gloss, water based transparent paints (according to the box anyway!!).

Does that make a difference?

Thanks Karen

The high fire vitreous paints in powdered form are not bothered by time. The low fired or non-heated paints in liquid form can evaporate and become harder to use. If they look OK just open them up and test them on something. Since they are water based you can probably thin them with distilled or filtered water.
