As always your answer is Ebay...
Now, c'mon, besides the beauty in the video tape there was a really good looking, hardly used one that had a reserve up near retail. Was it worth it, yes, BUT it is used, not new, so it's not worth a new price. Guess the guy still has it. Was nice though.
I got to see one live. Some guy up north who also makes video tapes. At least I think it was a Studio model. Impressive machine.
What are the names and/or URL's of the other glass forums? I'm particularly interested in those that have classified ads. :>)
Geez Jack, If I said it was a '57 Chevy you would have known right off if I was telling the truth or not...
you saw a IB-30 AND A Studio Model, AND a Denver Wheel engraver . unless someone else you know makes video tapes on occasion...
Been thinking about upgrading my beveling equipment, so was looking for ads for studios that are closing.
I'm wanting a Denver Studio model (4 vertical wheels) or some Covington arbors. Also want to find a larger felt polishing wheel. (Somaca?)
What with all the doom and gloom over the Chinese taking over the whole industry, I figure maybe there might be some places going belly-up.
And once I find what I want, I'll have some Glastar beveling stuff for sale.
Don't know about controllers on the wall but I know for sure it was a IB-30 AND A Studio Model, WITH a Denver Wheel engraver.
I even think I saw a '57 Chevy go by.
That becomes a severely limited answer. I've searched eBay for 3 years. I bought the only Glastar beveler I saw, and I've never even seen a Denver Studio for auction. Saw one fairly new Somaca flat wheel in AL....guy wanted more than a new one. Duh.
As a matter of fact, the only Studio model I've ever seen was in a video tape.
Is the guy who makes the video tapes the same guy who has all the kiln stuff with all those controllers hanging on the wall?
Yeah, I've seen entire 'businesses" for sale too. Unfortunately, I don't need 4 more pairs of pattern shears and another worn-out soldering iron and a dull glass cutter. And I have "plenty" of scrap glass and partial rolls of foil.
As Java pointed out, there was one Denver Studio model up for auction, maybe 18-24 months ago. I think I bid on it up to $1000 and didn't get to the guy's reserve, so he probably still has it. IIRC, it was his father-in-law's prized toy.
