Couple of Happy dances

I've been working on several round robins and guild projects which involve a monthly technique, so it's been awhile since I actually finished something.

Last week I got Charlands "Be Mine" finished. (I've had this in my stash for quite a few years - I couldn't even find it on her website anymore) I used a different linen, and substituted GAST threads for DMC. Also changed colours slightly to better match the 'Linen and Colours' thread which came with the kit.

Then for something completely different, I pulled a stumpwork piece out of my stash to do. Karen Buell's "Blueberries and Ladybug" I don't do much surface work, so it was fun to do a different technique.

I'll have to get a jar lid to mount it in. My next project is going to be Sandy Jenkins's Beehive purse. I've actually stitched this before as a shop model, but it is in the May 2001 Stitcher's World magazine, and since I couldn't keep the model, I want to do one for myself. I've got the supplies on order, and should be able to start it by the end of the month.

Wow, Marg - looks fabulous - especially if you haven't done stumpwork in a while! Enjoy.

Sounds like fun.

Thanks, Ellice.

I found a Rajmahal satin lined and covered box in my stash which I had originally meant to do with gold work. It will work perfectly for the stumpwork, especially since it its navy blue and picks up the blue of the blueberries in the stumpwork. Once finished I'll take a pic and post it the rctnp.

I went and looked at the Sandy Jenkin's site

look like so much fun C

They are - her painted canvases are very good. The only thing we found when I was stitching it the first time was that the instructions were not great. They were missing a page, so Sandy faxed the missing information. Even then, they didn't follow very well. I also had trouble with her directions for the beaded fringe. I'd still love to do the 'Lily Pad' purse. The frog is so cute.
