Craft club

Hi all, I got something in the mail the other day where you join this "craft club". They send you a questionnaire to find out your interests then send you related crafting items to test. There's a magazine that comes with it. The cost to join is $12. It's called the Creative Home Arts Club. Has anyone heard of/tried this?

A Guild member recommended Crafter's Choice book club -- she's into everything but I'm not and have had a hard time finding books I really want to fulfill my committment. Anyhoooooooow, I got an invite to join that Club and figure it came because of Crafter's Choice. I read it over and over and over and it still didn't make sense as to why the items were free. Although the test kits are supposedly be free, I'm connvinced that there might be exhorbitant costs for shipping and handling which wasn't mentioned in the offer.

Was it Groucho Marx who said he didn't want to join any club that wanted him as a member?

I had a subscription to this magazine once. I was nearly impossible to get them to stop sending me stuff. There just wasn't enough of the stuff I was interested in, then they tried to start automatic shipments of other things like books and calendars.

I belonged for a year and only got one thing to try out - a stain remover! Not worth it - never found a project I liked, lots of junk mail and the automatic shipments, plus I got a ton of Visa offers from them. Wouldn't recommmend it - plus they want you to become a "lifetime member" for something like $250, and the second year is $24.

The voice of experience has spoken. :) Think I'll pass on their offer.

Thanks to all of you for your input!
