Mayo only for me - if I want spice, I use mustard!

I haven't had duck in ages - wonder who serves that still.

This is making me laugh so hard - my grandfather liked chipped beef and my grandmother hated making it. But she loved him, so she did. I think I remember actually liking it and never told either one I did.

BTW, you can find frozen packages of it. My FIL had it and frozen creamed spinach in his freezer when we moved him out.

Lots of people here, we have a great source of ducks.

LOL - tell us how you really feel ;^p That said, I tend to agree with you, though I don't go right to the devil's spawn ( I save that for veal kidneys & rillettes which were erroneously served to me when I was living in France).

No salad cream, no MW. And, actually, if I don't have homemade mayo, will go for Duke's (from the South and scrumptious) or Hellman's. No Kraft - after all - they did spawn MW.

Lots of places. Last week when I met the Mt V stithing group, the daughter of one of the stitchers (who also works at Mt V) actually after being bribed with dinner into hanging with us stitchers, was further bribed by her mom saying "look - there's Roast Duck" - and she got it!

I really like maigret - which is breast of duck - as well as a nice crispy roast duck. Yum.

The grocery stores here, well, at least Wegman's and the Harris-Teeter both have frozen roast duck, and the Wegman's carries fresh duck, goose, and some other slightly harder to find things - I actually buy the duck breast there.

Ah yes---Chicken ala King. The dish we made in Home Economics when I was in Jr. High School in 1951 and the one that turned me off of anything white in cream sauce forever. I wouldn't eat it now if it was the only thing left in the house. I really think I would prefer to starve.

I've seen frozen whole duck in the store, but that's too much for just me. Haven't seen roast duck except on the Chinese menus for ages. Mind you, it's just not something for kind of place DS would willingly go.

There's just me, I don't share duck with the cat, and I will roast one, cut it in four sections with poultry shears, eat one, have one cold, freeze the other two for another occasion. There is not a huge amount of meat on a duck, likewise a goose, which I like even more than duck.

The grocery stores here have both frozen whole duck and frozen duck breast. The price per pound seems to be the same for both.

I'm not keen on duck but do enjoy goose. Our island has an abundance of wild geese which are much tastier than domestic "reared" geese, far less fattier too. Bruce

I prefer wild, duck also. I roast on a rack having pierced the breast, where the fat layers lie in water birds, well with a carving fork. That allows the fat to drain away.

I used to be supplied every season with duck, goose, and brace of pheasant by a great Italian friend who was the champion skeet shooter in NS. Sadly he died a few years ago, way too young, but he was out shooting at the time when he dropped.

YUM! I haven't had that for years, since the meat I use is fairly expensive. At the risk of being bombarded with "yuck" posts, I also like creamed peas and make that once in awhile. Definitely a comfort food for me. I usually add cooked ground beef, too, so it's a complete meal in one dish.

Slightly funny side note. When my kids were young and we had creamed peas one night, DH & I were talking about SOS. One of the kids asked what that meant. Ummmmmm "Stuff on a shingle!" and SOL became "Stuck on a log". lol

As long as I'm at it, if I have to have any type of dressing, I'd rather have MW. Mayo just doesn't have any flavor, imo.

My issue is that I'd have to thaw it, butcher it and re-freeze it. While it might be 4 nice lunches for me, I think I'll hold off.

Sure is and everyone was agreed at the funeral, too soon, but great way to go.

Here I've seen frozen half-duckling, fresh whole duck, fresh duck breast, and probably frozen whole duck. It's not inexpensive, but not terrible, either. Guess just depends where you are.
