longest project in history

In 1974, I made a set of coasters in ndlpt - hibiscus blooms in various colors - never could figure out how to finish them - they lay in hiding til today when I decided to just lay a simple, tight blanket stitch over the edges. At least I made a tiny dent in my stash, too.

Any idea what I could do to use more of these leftovers? I must have miles of tapestry wool in about 50 colors.

Use them to do a bargello pillow which are now fashionable again....Do a simple stich on needlepoint canvas --Straight stitch up over 2, over 4, over

6 and back down across the pillow and then do another row on top of that one in a contrasting color....very quick and colorful.....lots of easy patterns ....

A friend of mine gets about 4-5 sweaters knit by her mother each year. The following year, she gets a needlepoint pillow using the left overs from the sweaters from her aunt. It's done in a waffle type stitch, if there was dark yarn used, then she will use that as mini border between the stitches.

Knit or crochet with it. Makes a neat effect if you use short lengths

Eons ago, I saw a project for a rock covered with knots that I've always wanted to do:

I have an unfinished tablecloth too. I don't remember just how old it is but it's definitely from the late 60's or the early 70's. It's linen and I suppose it was once white or a very light beige but now it's kind of mottly yellow and the DMC thread that I have packed neatly away with it is a very dark burgandy, which is a color I would never, ever have used in my home.

Why I'm keeping it I have no idea, but I keep moving it from place to place. I guess it's become a fixture now.

I had one of those too - finally ditched it, regretting the time and expense invested. But I hated the pattern and knew it would take too many hours to finish it.

Could you possible salvage it by cutting up for placemats or napkins or applique-ing the pattern onto something?
