Need Ideas

My DD wants to hang a beaded curtain on her doorway. I want to do it as cheaply as possible - anyone have any ideas on a "door covering" that won't break the bank? She hates all the "buckets of beads" that we've found at Michael's - wants the expensive beads that I'm just not paying for! (especially with two cats - this thing is *bound* to get torn up!) Kim

You'll laugh! hit yard sales for old necklaces and such. Also Good Will and other such thrift stores. I find the wildest stuff. And there is always a chance of other interesting finds.

If there are any indian or asian stores near you you might find they have lovely beaded curtains at amenable prices.

In the "cool" stores locally, I have seen curtains made of pom poms instead of beads. Also ones with small craft mirrors glued back to back. The pompoms would be much less expensive. Dawne

Sometimes it's easier to buy something than to make it yourself. I'm almost certain that I saw relatively inexpensive bead curtains at Linen and Things or Bed Bath and Beyond or Target or Walmart when I was looking for drapes.

may or may not be what your daughter wants.

Kim,

Here's another link to try. I think my 10 yo might like these to put in her doorway. Don't know if 18 is enough, but the length seems about right and might be high enough to keep the cats at bay.

Depending on what she's looking for, check out Target.com - they have 2 different sets currently of doorway beaded do-dads....very reasonably priced (look in room decor area). My 14YO DD is trying to decide right now which set she prefers.

I just have too many projects going on right now to subject myself to the endless bead-stringing that would ensue otherwise!
