New

Hi everyone,

I am new to this group. I will admit to have been kind of lurking for a couple of days now, just trying to get a feeo for the people here. It is wonderful to see so many people helping others. It is very touching.

A little about myself.......I am 28 years old and I have 3 children ages

9, 10 and 11. I have been doing cross stitch for about 12 years and knitting for about the same.

I hope I can be of some help!!

thanks a bunch

Welcome Shannon. Hope you enjoy the group. Some of the discussions can be quite ... err... lively. It can be a bit of a bad influence. I have enough projects planned now to keep me busy for the next 10 years, if not more.

What are you working on? Dora

Hi Dora,

thanks for the welcome.

Right now I am working on the hibiscus duo designed by Lena Liu. I actually have a couple of projects on the go right now. I sometimes get bored with one and will go on to another one. then go back to the first one later.

I hope there are others out there like me that get bored with a project sometimes!

Where are you from?

Welcome to the group Shannon.

Right now I'm working on an Oriental sampler, a knitted afghan and some crocheted coasters. If you're working on more than one project at a time, you will fit right in. I think a lot of us do that.

I`m fine until about four fifths way through a project - I just plough on singlemindedly until then - then I`m just dying to start on the next thing and it becomes really tedious!

I'm in Calgary, Alberta. Beautiful weather this weekend. I've been working in the garden and doing laundry.

I'm a serial project starter as well. I put them in rotation. I usually start to get tired of a project after working on it for about a week, so I rotate them on that basis. I was working on my Iris needlepoint this week and didn't get as far as I wanted, but I have to get some more yarn, so time to put it aside anyway.

Take a look at my album if you want. Dora

I used to work on several things in rotation -- then I went on a binge of finishing things -- I think my family though I was dying or something, and trying to finish things off.

Now I generally work on one thing and finish it, though having said that, I do have a project in my tote bag that I interrupted several months ago, and just haven't gotten back to.

Oh, and I'm in Louisiana, the extreme northwest corner, almost in Texas, almost in Arkansas.

I really like the bracelet you made. Unfortunately I am not that crafty, lol. I stick to cross stitching and knitting!!

Well it has been pouring rain here since last night. the beginning of the week was horrible due to humidity.

I run a home daycare and I have 5 kids under 3 years old. Most of them didnt take to the humidity very well...this summer should be interesting!!

A lot? Lucille, I think the phase is *most* of us! ;-) I have 2 x-stitch going, 3 canvas embroidery, a Japanese embroidery project, a stumpwork project, my rather extensive flower gardens to maintain, along with the normal housework, job, etc., etc.

Whew! Wears me out just to look at the list..............

I'm in nw NC. My aunt is in Ottawa, I've been there a fewtimes, both in winter and summer. It's a nice town. I hope to get up there next year - it will take me that long to save the money.

Thank you. Beadwork is the closest I get to instant gratification in crafting. I went to a beadshow yesterday, bought too much and will be making a couple of new things in the near future. Dora

Hi Fran,

It is nice here and there are a lot of things to do. The only problem that I have with living here is the fact that our winters are VERY cold and our summers are very humid. Some summer days are horrible and I dont know how we survive. Thank god for air conditioners, but we pay for it in the end when our hydro bill comes in!
