no back/partial stitched patterns?

Hello all,

I last looked at this newsgroup over six years ago, but seem to recall discussion of a company that designed incredibly complicated XS patterns that used no back- or partial stitches. As I remember, the patterns alone were fairly pricey, but my salary has gone up, so...

Does anyone remember the name of that company? It's unlikely I'll get around to stitching any of them anytime soon with all the UFOs around my apartment, but I'd like to have the name for drooling purposes and the extremely off chance that I'll ever get around to stitching one of the company's patterns. I like the complexity of TW designs, but get veeeeery tired of being slowed down by blended/partial stitches!

You can email me directly at snipped-for-privacy@hotmail.com with a response. I appreciate any response.

This is a great question and will make an interesting thread! You might be thinking of MLI's designs (that's Marilyn Leavitt Imblum) at

. She does really lovely stuff and uses virtually no backstitching except for details in the face and hands of her people and with minimal partial stitches. I've stitches just a few of her designs but have a number of her charts and they *are* rather pricey. Last I heard, if you mark the chart up or it is damaged in any way, you can send it back to her and she will replace it for free. So -- does anyone know of another designer who manages to achieve the same results as MLI without the use of backstitching or partial stitches? Heaven and Earth Designs are very complicated and have no back stitching. I currently have "Amid Hummers" in my rotation and hope to have it finished by 2050......LOL

I can think of a couple - Long Dog Designs, usually in only one color but very complex looking. Also Ink Circles - I'm doing Garden Circles, all different colors of green, no back stitching. Take a look!

Thankfully, there are plenty of designers that don't use much backstitching or partial stitching

Ellen Maurer-Stroh (Berlin woolwork/Victorian florals, cats, etc.) Long Dog Samplers Silver Lining--florals, lighthouses Scarlet Quince--stitch adaptations of great art--NO backstitching, but lots of confetti stitches. Fantastic finished pieces Cross My Heart--their larger designs are mostly whole stitches with minimal backstitch Kustom Krafts--animal and fantasy designs

have fun! Monique in TX

I have a couple by Mystic Stitch that don't have any partials or backstitching - however the charts are set up for stitching each

10x10 grid at a time, starting with the upper left-hand corner. Otherwise you'll get lost. Using a highlighter or highlighter tape should help. (As you can tell, I haven't tackled it yet.) The one I have is called "Resting Post" PETS-08), and is a tabby sitting above a mail box with flowers and greenery. The picture in the catalog was stunning.

I replied to this privately but as others are interested, Ross Originals have no back stitches or partials either.

Mystic Stitch. She takes other peoples artwork and makes incredibly complex (and gorgeous) charts from them. Be prepared for 60-100 colors per chart, but no blended threads. MysticStitch.com
