OT: Canada mine fire

The news on the wire says there a fire in a potash mine in Saskatchewan. Approximately 70 miners are trapped but 40-some have a communication link to the ground and are known to be ok at this time. Here's hoping all the miners are safe now, the fire can be extinguished, and everyone makes it out soon!

As of about an hour ago, the miners and other workers at the potash mine in Esterhazy are all safe--all have been heard from. Earlier in the day there were about 30 workers whose circumstances were not known, but they are safe. There are underground shelters within the mine that provide sufficient air for about 36 hours. They will bring the workers to the surface once the smoke from the fire is no longer a hazard--it seems they are safer in the shelters than in the mine corridors at this point. It seems that all will end well. Dawne
