OT: Is this appropriate? (religion)

I'll try and set up this question so it makes sense.

We're not Catholic, but DS goes to Catholic School. The priest there is youngish, personable and approachable, and is known to have a sense of humor. I have friends in Philly, who are Catholic, and the husband is very, very ill. Some of the medical care he is getting sounds, well, perfunctory, and I do not get the impression that their concerns are being taken seriously all the time. The wife is legally savvy, but medically squeamish, plus they have a young son at home.

She is overhwhelmed, to put it mildly.

Would it be appropriate for me to ask the Father at DS's school to pray for them? Not for a cure; that seems like hubris to me, but for appropriate care, and assistance and peace.

THis is not the forum I would normally post a question like this, but I can't ask my usual group because she's on it. I hope no one is offended by this question; I absolutely am not trying to cause offense.

Answers off list are fine. TIA, Sara

Go for it! No harm done, no offense to anybody, and it might help -- at least it will help YOU handle the situation.
