OT: Nasty Sniping

I have tried to sit on my hands but I this morning to see yet another post slamming Karen C just irritated the hell out of me.

What is wrong with you three ? Are you so insecure you must have someone to bash ?

Two of you consistently come here and go on at length about your health but when Karen says anything, oh no that will never do, she should shut up.

If you don't like what she writes, use your bloody killfile ! Is that beyond your capabilities ?

I for one am sick of reading about how wonderful you are, how you cope and she doesn't, you probably all cope because you have husbands who assist you in coping, Karen does not. If you can cope so admirably, how about having some compassion for someone who feels they are drowning ? Why do you have to keep hammering at the same nasty point over and over again ? You have become so predictable, it's laughable.

Ruby made her post quite innocently but I knew the moment I saw it which way things were going to wind up.

I am going to put the three of you in my killfile, I think you are full of hate towards someone you don't even know, maybe that is what is rotting you from the inside out.

Now everyone can killfile me for saying all this - if they haven't already - go ahead, be my guest.

Thank you Sheena for saying what really needs to be said. This is a group that is acting just like the schoolyard bullies that we all tried to avoid when we were little kids. It's odd that I know all about the health, welfare and non-related to needlework problems of these people, but it's not okay for others to do the same.

Unfortunately it looks like some people aren't happy unless they're making someone else miserable.

I had left the newsgroup for just that reason, then came back 2 days ago to see if anything had changed, and it hadn't.

Thank you for saying this.

Well for the longest time, maybe a couple of months, there was improvement with one member gone, keep checking it may happen again.

Killfiles are very useful for reading usenet. Not just for filtering people you don't want to read, but also for filtering threads that have subjects you might not be interested in. Better filters also let you mark threads or people that you're particularly interested in seeing, so they go to the top of the list when you open a group.

Us old-timers like to complain about how the quality of usenet has deteriorated, but I think it's actually about the same now as it's ever been. Any time you get a large group of people together, there's going to be friction. One reason I don't ever read web boards is that there's no way to filter the stuff I'm not interested in.

This is sooo true! The reason I left the group is that after all the filters and killfiles got their work done, there were only 1 or 2 posts per day that were on topic.

I had been hoping that was a spell the group was going through.

Start a topic and see the answers. There have been a couple of new people and a couple of problems (needlework) in that period that generated a very good response.

I have to say, it is not always possible, or desirable, to stick only to stitching, one needs some sort of mix. I only respond to odd questions perhaps about crewel, framing, gold work, but I read most of the posts anyway, even if they are not things I will doing, you never know when you might learn something about something than can be of use.

Remember, since there was woman, women have sat down with fabric and needles, created and chatted and not always about what they doing lol

It`s a shame that the killfile doesn`t prevent the "corpse" reappearing as part of someone else`s post!

Don't worry, I'll probably be dead soon. Then you can continue giving away your money and sobbing for the self pity parties

Not more than Mark would miss me, I'm certain. I'm having a very hard time, but I would never expect anything from anyone, not ever. Expectations are a great way to set oneself up for unpleasantness.

Eh. This is boring.

Yeah, me too. How successful are transplants? You do the math then go shake you head off your shoulders for all I care.

Oh dear, you ARE in a negative spell, Vic. Over here transplants are pretty successful these days, so I imagine they must be just as successful over there!

Group hug needed for Victoria, to give her positive thoughts!

Thank you Pat, I know where you heart is and I admire your honesty. The transplants are successful, but the survival rate is significantly lower. I'm being realistic. Hopefull I won't need it...then there is always the list and will I even get a liver. I'm okay with it.

Thank you, Caryn. I won't be lost, I will have a new body in a new life! I have stage four fibrosis, or Childrens Stage A Cirrhosis. If this treatment does not work, I am looking at a transplant. I don't know when, but my liver is a ticking time bomb.

And I don't find anything morose about this at all. It's a fact of life that we're all on death row. Better to be ready than to panic at the moment of death. When I die I'd like it to be a serene moment, fluid into the next life. It takes work and practice (according to Buddhism, and I'm a Buddhist).
