Lol, I wonder if you knew this? Check your header where it says "Org"
- if you don't put something in that box he has it set up to say "Noiseless patient spider " - tickled my funny bone lol

No, I never looked. I see mine says "poison pill inc." now. LOL
:-p
I've googled freenews but nothing comes up. I guess they no longer exist for anyone but old customers.

Ah, ok! I never pay much attention to headers and footers so I never noticed. Now I'm going to have to from now on just for curiosity's sake. LOL

Hm. I didn't have to create an account or anything like with eternal sept and I'm not sure it even has it's own website since I got it off a mass list of free usenet servers. I'd try just adding it as a new server in whatever reader you use and see if it pulls news up. No need to add a login name or password. I see port 119 assigned to it but I think that's the default choice. There is no special configuration or futzing around like I found with ES initially.

I'm well pleased with Agent 3.2, but the program has been "improved" several times, and I get the impression that Agent 6 isn't very good. There's a newsgroup devoted to discussing Agent: alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent

Did you get Windows Vista or Windows 7?
If you do the Windows Live install options, the Windows Live Mail has a newsreader built into the mail program. Just have to pick the newsgroups instead of mail.
You might have to know the settings for newsgroups just like you do for the mail reader. i.e. snipped-for-privacy@service-provider.net
