OT(sort of): Reading enabling

I highly recommend a subscription to the Ruth Kern newsletter.

Ruth specializes in new and used needlework books, but also deals in mysteries. Her latest issue covers many more authors then the recent bulletin from B&N. As a prolific reader, who has been known to finish 4 or more books over a weekend, I am always on the look out for new authors. I have checked off at least ten new, to me, serial authors in the latest list and many of them have several previously published books. Just investigating to see of I like them will take several weeks.

Now off to make a shopping list.

I emailed off a request for her catalog! I should do the same for her news letter!

I've been thinking about corner bookmarks and fooled around a little with some paper. Cut a piece of paper 4" by 2-1/4". Marked 1/4" and folded the paper to crease the 1/4". Then keeping the 1/4" folded to the inside, put some glue on the 1/4" flap and folded the 4" length in half. Ended up with a

2" corner bookmark. Decided to trim one edge in a wavy pattern (would have been easier to do before I glued it LOL). Think I may try it using perforated paper, stitching a simply design on it and see how it looks and works, with the stitching, as a corner bookmark.

Did you ever order the book of designs with the pre-made corners? Would be interested in seeing the website if you still have it.

Bea,

Thanks for the info! I haven't ordered the book as I can't seem to find it. I thought it was at Herrschner's, but I can't find it on their website. All of my stuff is slowly being packed and I don't even have a current catalog from them. I probably won't get to do anything with it until after I get moved, but I thought they would make neat (read FAST) Christmas gifts.

I hadn't even thought about doing them on perforated paper! I'll have to get some and play once I get moved and settled.
