In the grand scheme of things one picture isn't a disaster. :o)

It's just that Usenet newsgroups are text only unless they have the word binary in the name. ISPs allot a certain amount of space on their news servers for posts. As new messages are posted old ones fall off. Posts that contain attachments, pictures, or HTML are very large compared to plain text and take up much more space, causing older messages to fall off the server faster. There are literally thousands of newsgroups that make up Usenet. If many people start posting in HTML or adding pictures the retention time for posts could end up being hours rather than days or weeks.

So are posts that contain an entire 5-page repeat of every prior post in the topic.

Ignorant as I am, I didn't know all this. Thanks, Jeri, for the explanation. We live and learn daily!
