new ingredient question

I have always used copper carbonate for our glazes. Is there any reason not to use copper oxide (adjusting for MW)?

The oxide is stronger, so you would get a deeper tone.

And it may be courser, so it may not disperse as well in the glaze. At least this is true of Cobalt oxide and carbonate, and I presume also with copper. There must be some other reasons, since I believe the norm is copper carbonate, but I don't know them. In my catalog, copper carbonate is more expensive than the oxide, so I guess it's not cost...
