slip recipes

I'm looking for some slip recipes for reds and/or yellows--either recipes or resources for locating same would be much appreciated. Having never mixed slips, let alone glazes, "Clay and Glazes for the Potter" (3rd) is my current source. There is no Vanadium Stain available and that is the only possible listed for yellow. Talk to your local supplier about stains. You will need at least 10% stain in the slip.

If it is of interest, I detail how I make my slips on my web site. Go to Pottery Techniques / Making Slip for Decorating. http//:

include pink and yellow. Some examples of the results are shownunder the different Pottery Designs. For pink and yellow see Pink Lustreand Spindrift.

Nearest local supplier is 4+ hrs away, so my request for information and resources is heartfelt. Thanks for the heads up about Vanadium--this may be why none is present at our local jr. col.

Hello Kathy

I would suggest that you log into

and go through their on- line catalogue and order by mail. It is possible that their prices could also be cheaper.
