It's what we do, Michelle, straighten people out, beg for the difference. ;-P As Queen of the Beggars, I'm surprised there haven't been more "send it to me!" submissions; somehow we must have known that you do love the colors of this quilt.

My living room started out to be blue, but the blue couches fell victim to a visiting (a couple of months) dog, who literally ate them one night while we were out. We couldn't find more blue couches to replace those, so we ended up with tan. We have a blue carpet on part of the brown laminate flooring, and there's also wood tables. So "blue" is a memory. ;S

LOL! Yes, you all must have known I DO love the colors. Just glad "matching" isn't it a requirement. ;-) I'm looking forward to quilting it, but have another to do ahead of it--which I'll be doing by hand. On the black, red, and white one, I'm going to do a mix of hand-quilting and machine stitch in the ditch.

Yikes Sandy! I think I remember the dog eating your couch--but never knew what color it was. At least you still have your blue carpet. Tan and blue is a pretty combo imo. Very calming.

I have tan tile, pale golden drapes and a blue couch and loveseat, and a tan loveseat. So the color scheme is quite similar to yours.

LOL! That is true. Up till now though, even in my scrappy quilts, I've tried to put a dominant color in the border that matched the room where I intended to use it. I can tell I've been worrying far too much.

Ummm ... you're probably remembering our current baby munching on the then-new leather couches. Different couches, different dog. :S

I agree -- but we don't have enough blue to fill the bill.

It does sound similar. We had a blue couch and loveseat and now have them in tan leather. The carpet is the only blue in the room. However, now that Bisou (the cocker we now have) has matured a bit and no longer chews the couches, we're hoping to be able to put a blue quilt across the back of a chair in there. That would help. Bisou also used to eat quilts, but she hasn't touched a cushion I recently made and have left there, so there's hope ....

Ahhh, I believe you're right. Never thought about TWO couch chewing dogs--but then I know more about cats. ;-)

Let's hope she's matured enough. A blue quilt sounds like just the right touch, imo. Even though your new couches aren't blue, they do sound lovely.

LOL! They *were* lovely, Michelle. But the multiple repairs left them less so. ;) Still, at least these couches were reparable -- the blue ones were destroyed down to the wooden framework, all in one evening. It was awful. That dog obviously had separation anxiety to a high degree, and we hadn't been told about it. :(

Matching decor is not a motivator for me. I just use colors and fabric that I enjoy, sometimes ending up with quilts that don't 'go with' anything, but that satisfy me. That is not necessarily a good thing, but it is how I work. If I end up with something that will just not play well in my home, and I don't have a friend/relative who'd enjoy it, I am happy to donate the quilt to charity. If your quilt is suitable size for Quilt of Valor, or a Domestic Shelter or other charity, perhaps that would be the best goal for you. Pat in Virginia

What type of dog was it? And yes, it must have been under some serious stress. Did the people you were dog-sitting for pay for your replacements?

He was a lab mix -- probably some pit bull, too, judging by his eyes. There were no people, as his owner had died. We took him in temporarily; here's his story and a few photos: .

Ah, DJ was such a cute pup and had one heck of a story. How strange that the distemper got him in spite of his vaccines. :-(

It was because the new place had distemper raging through it; he wasn't the only one who was stricken. It was heart-breaking. He really was cute, but he had a terrible effect on our sweet old Dexter. Dexter took to hiding in a corner, curled as small as possible, *all* day and all night. He began losing fur in great quantities and was terribly depressed; he just couldn't cope with a large puppy who wouldn't leave him alone. Sad as DJ's story was, we just couldn't put Dexter through that.

That's why, when we were considering getting Bisou, we had an agreement with her previous owner that she'd take her back if Dexter had any problems. The previous owner lives in northern CA, and she said that she'd fly here herself to pick up Bisou, if we needed to give her up. However, Bisou is much smaller than DJ was, and she wasn't as persistent about trying to play with Dexter, so that went very well. Whew!
