Greetings! I just came across a pretty cool project at the tip nut site. This cutting table uses kitchen cabinet parts. It looks efficient to use and fairly straightforward to build. Go to

For those of you on no/low budget let me tell you about my own cutting table. It's a pitiful cheap dining room table from our newlywed year of
1950. We stuck pvc white socks on her to raise her up to comfortable cutting height. Laid a sheet of sturdy but not pretty plywood on top. She does me proud. Underneath, there are bins: yellow, scraps, red and visitors. The scraps and visitors' bins are getting out of hand. I've got to do something. Polly"Pat in Virginia" <
LOL. Very funny, Roberta. I don't really put visitors in the bin. That bin is more like: Lost, Found and Left. Sometimes when someone visits and quilts with me they leave something. Before I let a guest out the door, I scan the area for keys, phones, open-toe feet, purple thangs . . . you know; important treasures. Polly
maybe ya need another empty bin near the door for every new visitor to put all their goodies in on arrival. then clear it out as they leave. oops, i guess that wont cover all the things they use during the session, lay down somewhere, it falls to the floor unnoticed by either of you and is found much later by you only to have no idea who the heck it belongs to. hmmmm maybe a marking pen near the door to mark every item they intend to use during the session so if it gets left behind at least then you'd know who it belongs to and it can be retrieved by checking in that visitors bin on the next visit. i dont have those probs as i have no visitors. j.
